Has anyone else had problems with the new Ethanal Gas? I have noticed reduced power and a huge loss in MPG. I have gone back and forth and isolated my problem to Ethanal. If we are using it becase it burns cleaner then how is burning more gas cleaner and better? I guess I am missing something... Does anyone have more info on this topic? Dave

Try this web site it will tell you if you vehicle can burn ethanol.

Ethanol 85

Most fuels contain about 10% ethanol. The new fuel is 85%. Most older cars. below 2002, are not designed to run on it and it may harm you fuel system mostly through corrosion.

Ethanol is not as powerfull as gasoline therefore you lose fuel economy. Depending on how cheap it is in your part of the country it may not be economically advantagous to switch to Ethanol unless you are doing it for the enviroment.

I live in Dallas Texas and the entire Dallas Fort Worth area is required to use it. I am no longer able to find a gas station that does not have Ethanal. I have heard that Ethanal does have a problem with mosture mixed with the gas and have even heard that some people have lost engines due to the Ethanal carying mosture through the system. Does anyone know of a water fuel filter that would bolt on to a 01 Continental. Water in the fuel would explain the lost power and MPG. Also has anyone experiemented with running different octains?

All gasolines containe about 10% some up to 15% t should not be bad for your vehicle. Do not try to use the NEW E85 which is 85% ethanol your car will not run on it.

I use a gas mix of 10% ethanol Running Premium in the car Many people try to get by with something other than Premium it runs better with Premo. I also went to double platnum sparkplug they are expensive but no changing for 5 years. I get 22.8 overall in mileage on my 1995 lincoln 148,000 miles. I also use a synthetic Oil Mobil one Less friction in the Engine Hope this helps

Dave, I've heard that some people are having problems related to ethanol eating away at their fuel systems. I participate in a Mercedes Forum, too. That's where I've heard this. I haven't tried ethanol myself, so I have no personal experience with it.

I wonder if the mix of gas additives, which varies from place to place might not also be a factor. Anybody else know?
