I have an '04 LS V8. On the way to work getting on the interstate and accelerating it al of a sudden went flat. It kept running but no acceleration at all. It would only go about 45 - 50 mph. Tranny was rebuilt this summer and seems to shift alright. But to step on the gas nothing. Anyone have this same issue or what might I check? Is there something I can do to fix it?

Your car is in "reduced power mode" oralso called limp home mode. The cars computer noticed something really wrong and sets off the limp home. There must be other warning lights on the dash right? Usually its from overheating.

Talked to the service station today. And there were 2 codes that came up. One for a new oxygen sensor and the other for the throttle body. I'm adding an oil change while there. But the bill will be around 9 pesos.

Your year has a fly by wire throttle body. Meaning no throttle cable anymore. They do have a problem with those popping up. You have to replace the whole TB unit most of the time. Those are not cheap.

Also on another note. Got the call from the shop. The throttle body is on back order. The release date is not until Dec. 18. Had to get a used one. So if yours goes out you maybe stranded unless your local shop has one in stock. Yea about not being cheap. The new ones run $700ish.

They also had to reprogram the computor. And 3 coils had to be replaced, but they were covered under a recall. Runs great! Just thought I'ld let you know what all was done.

Caution - A bad throttle body cleaning could damage the calibration on the control module.
A stickey throttle plate, because of PCV gunk will cause lost horse power & random misfires.

Anytime you lose the signal on a drive-by-wire system, the engine will go in Failsafe mode.
Check, and clean the electrical connection going to the Throttle body control module with CRC electrical cleaner. I have seen water roll from the cowl onto the engine, and short the APPS signal out on your CM.

$2k for a 5-min fix!
