I've searched alot and everybody seems to be concerned with the rear seat entertainment working with the aftermarket head unit but I don't see anything about the parking assist being an issue. Does the parking assist still work without the factory head unit because that's my only concern with replacing it?

I'm looking at an 03 aviator wiring diagram manual (131-1 Parking Aid page) and the only apparent input to the audio system is a mute signal. There seems to be four lines coming out of the parking assist module to sndr+ sndr- which don't seem to cross any other electrical connectors/junction points. I was hoping to tie the mute signal if it's just a voltage or ground into the phone muting system on the aftermarket head unit.

Are you doing it yourself or having someone else do it?

Yeah I am replacing all audio components myself and installing an aftermarket amp for door speakers and tweeters and an aftermarket amp for two 10 inch subs. If it requires splicing into I might just get the backup camera and call it quits for the parking assist.

The parking assist still works. I just hooked up the mute wire from the factory harness to the mute wire on my pioneer dvd player. Then i set the mute setting to like 20%. So know it all works like factory. So when i go in reverse and get close to an object the audio goes really low and i hear the beeping from the parking assist.

Just wanted to confirm that the parking assist works/is still audible. Ripped out everything and replaced it with an aftermarket head unit, four speakers, speaker cable and signal cable for amps (stage II), and can hear the parking sensors fine, when the music isn't too loud. I didn't run a mute signal, the factory one was irritating.
