The 2011 MKX has a great remote start system that integrates climate control. In the Summer it cools the vehicle as expected, but now that we're hitting the 30s in the mid-Atlantic area it's not doing its part to heat the vehicle. In fact, nothing about it is working in these temps: the heated steering is set to Auto -- but it doesn't activate, same thing with the heated seat. And I've alternately set the Climate setting to both Auto and Last Setting but it doesn't matter. I'm not sure I really expect the heater to activate since the coolant hasn't warmed up yet so no need to blow cool/cold air but the other two features should happen. Anyone else experiencing this ? Is there a technical bulletin/recall for this ?

i havent seen winter yet, but I dont think you get to pick what it does. The manual says somewhere that it just guesses at what you might want and does that. I wonder is it has not been cold enought for it decide you might like heat.

Thanks but from pg 42 of the MKX Owner Manual:

Automatic climate control

For hot weather conditions:
  • The interior cabin will be cooled to 72°F (22°C).
  • The cooled seats (if equipped) will be set to high.
For cold weather conditions:
  • The interior cabin will be heated to 72°F (22°C).
  • The heated seats (if equipped) will be set to high.
  • Rear defrost/heated mirrors (if equipped) will be activated.
And yeh, being in the 30s is cold enough to activate it. Though I left it out of the original post, the front defroster does in fact activate so maybe that takes care of the first item, maybe. But the other two definitely don't occur. The dealership said to bring it in and they'll have their remote-start vendor debug it....

Last time I was in a dealership I asked their mechanic to check that function. Mine was not working too. His response was that an upgrade needed in order to activate that function. Took him about an hour for an upgrade so it works now. But... It has to be really cold for heating to activate. In my case it has to be less than 30 F.
