Hello Everyone,

I've had my 2008 MKZ for about a month now, and the oil light has just started to come on.

Just comes on in the morning, after not being used all night, and only for maybe 10-15 seconds after start-up.

I ran a system check while it was on, and it shows "oil pressure low", and when the light is off... it's back to "OK".

I'm only 3k into this oil change, it was done when i got the car from the Ford Dealer, and they tell me everyone 4 mos, or 8K is ok for the oil change.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Sounds like a sensor flaking out. If still under warranty, they should fix it. May have to leave over night for them to see it happen in the morning when it's cold.

Like LC said..It sounds like the OP sending unit...If I know Ford..they still have issues with this, it's been a long time classic of Ford's

Never had this problem with any of my Ford products. If it's just a oil pressure sensor, you can buy them for abotu $10 at the auto parts store. Who knows, though, with the newer cars, it's probably a $1,000 computerized module that does the same thing as the mechanical $10 part.

If and actual Ford dealer did the oil change, one would assume they used the correct viscosity. If Jiffy Lube, this could also be the suspect.

Or the obvious, did you check the oil level...??? Low oil level could cause this.
