Hello,
Someone pushed a button too hard on my message center control and it came off the clips. I have a 2001 LS8 Sport. Great car.
The control buttons are still functioning but just hanging above the Alpine radio inside the dash.
Does anyone know how to get to them, move them back into place, and clip them back in place?
Thanks.

Hi Bmoore and welcome,
I see you have been plagued with one of the design flaws of the LS. It is only a matter of time before they all do this. Unfortunately, it's not as easy as clipping the buttons back into place. You need to take the trim panel off and then glue with epoxy the pieces that accept the screws that hold the buttons in place. Take off the trim piece and you'll see what I am talking about. Fortunately, it's a cheap fix.

Hi Lithium Cobalt,
Thanks for the timely and factual response. I appreciate the information.
How would I get the trim panel off. There is just a small piece surrounding it with two vents. I have not been able to find a way to remove it. I was thinking of taking it to Best Buy radio installers to help me remove it.
Is there a tool I could buy to get it off?
Thanks again.

Hi Bmoore,
Avoid the clowns at Best Buy like the plague. From my very foggy memory, I think the lower trim piece (next to ash tray) pops out and there should be a couple screws to back out. Then, push in the top vents so they are facing either all the way up or down and then just grab the trim panel and yank with consistent pressure and it should pop right out. After you get done gluing, make sure to touch the buttons lightly to avoid future issues.
